Scripture: 2 Peter 2:1-3; 12-19
During a climbing competition in the Utah mountain range, Koti Grikton saw a sheep different from the other sheep in her herd. When she went near it, she identified that it was a man dressed up like a sheep. When the authorities enquired about him, he explained that the dress was designed by one of the costume designers in the region. Also, he added that he did so to test how it would be to go like this for hunting.
When I read this article, I was reminded of this bible verse – “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. Matthew 7:15. False prophets will not bear the Fruits of Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23). They will indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority…they blaspheme the glorious ones. They are bold, willful, and greedy and entice unsteady souls. ( 2 Peter 2:10,14). In their greed, they exploit innocent souls with their fabricated stories (v.3). These false prophets and false teachers secretly introduce destructive heresies to the innocent people, denying the sovereign Lord and bringing swift destruction to themselves. (v.1,2).
The Good Shepherd Jesus Christ gave His own life for His sheep and not for His benefit. He doesn’t want us to be led astray by false prophets and teachers. He wants us to identify the deceiving ones and stay away from them. All He desires from us is to follow the True Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
