A tree to rest!

A tree to rest!

Scripture: Ezra 9:5-9

I recently saw a tree full of leaves standing alone on farming land, about 20 acres. I wondered why there were no other trees on that land but only one. When I asked my dad, he explained, saying there was a reason behind it. This tree gives shade to the farmer and the animals used to plow the land. During the peak summer, the farmer and the animals still have to work on the land, and in such a hot climate, this tree will give them shade and cool them while they rest under it.

People who survived a war or a bad medical condition usually battle in their mind to figure out why I was saved when many lost their lives with the same condition. Even we have survived many such situations. For example, in the recent pandemic, we saw people dying in multiples, even our known ones, but God protected us, and we are still alive.

We read in the Bible that when the people of Israel were captured by the Babylonians and Assyrians, a few of them were left. The remnant who were left built a temple for God while keeping the law of God (Ezra 9:9). Pauls claims himself as one who was among the remnant of God (Romans 11:5). He was protected to preach the gospel to the Gentiles (v.13).

If we could withstand a place where many fell, we should raise our hands towards heaven and praise God while being a shade and giving rest to people who come to us with tired and broken hearts.
