Who is on the top of your priority list?

Today’s verse: Matthew 6:33
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Scripture: Matthew 6:24-34

As we are all very special in the sight of God, He expects three things from us. And today we are in a position to make a firm decision from it. (I hope you all read the Scripture portion before reading this.)

God or world? (verse 24):

We can’t satisfy the world and God at the same time. If we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, then without any doubt, He should be our Master. And our priority should be serving Him. When you serve Him, you will start to experience His love. We read a few incidents from the Bible where the chosen ones have turned away from God and went behind the world. Some of them are Samson, Judas Iscariot, and Demas (2 Timothy 4:9,10). There is a warning for us in how their lives have ended. Today, take a firm decision to serve only God and not the world.

Flesh or Soul? (verse 24):

Romans 8:5 says, For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of Spirit. Our soul is more important than the food we eat or the dress we wear. To explain this Jesus points out the birds and the lilies of the field. God knows our needs and it is not our job to worry about the clothes and food. Food and clothes are important, but when they become our everything, we bring unwanted worry, fear, and diseases into our lives. Today, give all your needs to God and He will take care of it.

First or Second? (verse 31-34):

We should learn to prioritize the things of the heavenly kingdom in our lives. When we strive to build the kingdom of God, God will take care of our needs. When we give first preference to God and His kingdom, He becomes more interested in our lives. We see that in the life of the widow from Zarephath. She gave the last food she had to prophet Elijah and God took care of her needs from that day. Where is God on your priority list today? Give God the first place in your life and see your life changing.

Remember,
It should not be – ‘also for God’, it should be – ‘only for God’ when it comes to first place in your life.

God,
Help me to have you on the top of my priority list always. Amen
