The growing Kingdom of Heaven

Today’s verse: Matthew 13: 31-32

… “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, “which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

Scripture: Matthew 13:24-43

Jesus explains how the kingdom of heaven is growing through parables (Mark 4:26-34). Also, He gives a clear explanation to His disciples in verses 37 to 43. When an individual gives a place for God’s authority in His personal life, His kingdom keeps growing. But we shouldn’t forget that satan always tries to destroy this kingdom.

The tares that destroy the growth (verse 24-30):

Jesus Christ sows the word of God in the world. Good seeds are the people of the heavenly kingdom whilst the tares are those of satan. Satan sows the tares. In the early stages, the tares and the wheat look alike. And the roots are knitted together. So it is good to uproot them in the later stages when they are grown fully. People of satan seem to be good. It is difficult to find and remove them. That is why they are allowed to grow with the good ones. They can also use this chance to repent. Just like how the tares are burnt at the end, people of satan will also be put into the fire of hell if they do not repent (Luke 3:7-9). God’s people will enter into Heaven (verses 40 to 43).

The Holy Spirit that gives the growth (verse 31-33):

Small mustard and a leaven explain how the kingdom of God keeps growing. A small beginning brings a big change in our lives and turns us to be the people who deliver the word of God to many (Ezekiel 17:22-24). Are you attracting people to God through His image in you? Holy Spirit works in us silently and secretly. Just like how a little leaven transforms the entire dough (1 Corinthians 5:6-8), the Holy Spirit transforms us completely and helps us to lives as a child of God. We can pull many to God through our testified living.

Question yourself on how to remove the obstacles that stop God from working in us.

Dear God,
Mold me to bring many to You through my testified living. Amen.
