Come to Me!

Today’s verse: Matthew 11: 28

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Scripture: Matthew 11: 20-30

What is God’s word for those who repent to God and those who live according to their wish without tasting the love of God even after listening to several sermons and testimonies?

He rebukes the sinners (verse 20-24):

Jesus warns the people of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum that their ending would be awful as they did not repent even after seeing the miracles of Jesus. The destruction in the lives of those who know Jesus yet live in their sinful ways will be more than that of the ones who do not know Jesus. This is what Jesus is trying to explain through these verses. If we shun our ears to God and be stiff-necked, we will have to face a terrible situation on judgment day.

He praises the Father (verse 25-27):

Jesus praises God, the Father like little children seeing people coming towards Him. The word babes hear means having a childlike heart. Just like how children turn to their parents in a helpless situation, God reveals Himself to those who turn to Him (Daniel 4:29-37). Those who live in arrogance will not see God.

He calls the sinners (verse 28-30):

Why does he call us? He wants us to experience His love in our personal life (Isaiah 55:1-3). When we take our unresolved burden to God, He gives us the wisdom to resolve it. He forgives us when we confess our sins. He calls us to lead a peaceful life, submitting everything to God. If we attach ourselves to Jesus we will be able to accept and live according to His will. God knows us and He will never make us carry a burden that is more than our capacity. Sometimes He places a yoke on us to achieve what He has planned through us (verse 30).

Remember,
If God rebukes you, He is giving you one more chance to repent to Him.

Dear God,
Help me to live for what You have called me. Amen.
