The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands. Proverbs 14: 1
She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants. Proverbs 31:15.
She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night. Proverbs 31:18.
She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.” Proverbs 31:27-29.
What do your children tell about you? Does your husband give good testimony and feel proud of you. “Good children”, “good wife”, good family” – This is what God should declare about you!
There was a woman whose husband was addicted to alcohol. But this woman was a child of God. Whenever she gets time she enters into her room and meditates on the Word of God and keeps praying. One day when her husband was partying with his friends, one of his friends asked him, “You say that your wife loves you and takes care of you. No matter how late you go to your house, she receives you with a big smile on her face. You have never said even once that she has been angry with you. But when we go to our homes, it is not the same. Our wives are always angry with us. They keep shouting at us for being alcoholic. Sometimes they don’t even open the door when we are late to home. Even if they allow us to enter the house, they don’t give us food and don’t bother about any of our needs. But your wife is different and we want to see how your wife could be so good to you. So arrange us a feast in your house?” This man came home and told his wife that his friends would visit us for dinner the next day. And the wife happily agreed to prepare dinner for them. The next day the woman prepared some delicious food for everyone and was ready to receive her husband and his friends for the dinner. She found them coming home fully drunk even on that day. But she did not bother about anything and invited them with a smile on her face. After some time she started serving food for them. One of the man’s friends asked his wife, “How do you love your husband so much even after him being addicted to alcohol? How do you take care of him so well? How do you serve him every day without murmuring but showing only love? How is it possible?” The woman replied, “I don’t have any problem in my life. I am a child of God. I have Jesus in my heart. I keep talking and praying to God all the time. That is my happiness and that gives me great strength. Not only that, if I die today I know that I will go to heaven. But I am worried about my husband. I don’t know what he will do!” These words touched her husband and it started changing her husband’s heart. Immediately her husband decided to leave the addiction and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior the very same day at the very same place.
…a prudent wife is from the Lord. Proverbs 19:14.
Are you being prudent? Are you building your house/family or destructing it with your hands?
There was a woman who had a beautiful family and all the wealth. Her husband was always busy with his work. He goes to work early in the morning and returns home late every day as he was holding a very important position in the organization he was working with. But the woman started having affair with one of the servants in her house and one day she eloped with him. After few months, the man with whom she eloped took all the money and properties she had with her and escaped from her leaving her all alone. Not knowing what to do she kept crying. Days passed and she realized how she betrayed her husband and her children and how she gave place for sin in her life because of the lust she had! You know what happened later, the woman who had so many servants in her house, now started working as a maid in a house to meet her daily needs. Look at the life of this woman. She had more wealth and money. But she did not have Jesus Christ in her heart. Because she did not have Jesus in her heart, she gave place for sin and the lust stained her life. She destructed her family with her own hands because she wasn’t wise.
Yes! We are the ones who build the house and we are the ones who destroy the house!
Today’s Bible Character: Eve
We are going to see about four foolish women from the Bible as a series every Wednesday. The first one is Eve.
Scripture: Genesis 2 and 3.
…” she(Eve) was the mother of all living. Genesis 3:20.
The serpent deceived Eve (Genesis 3:13). God created Adam and Eve and He brought into existence a place(Eden garden) for them to live (2:8) and gave them a job(to tend and keep the garden – 2:15) and gave them the guidelines to live(2:17). He gave them everything they need, in fact, more than what they needed. God allowed them to eat everything that was found in the garden except that one fruit. And that was where the devil worked very cunningly. Genesis 3:1 says the serpent is more cunning than any beast that the Lord God had made.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 1 Timothy 2:14.
The serpent perceived that it is easy to make Eve eat the fruit than to make Adam eat it. So it entered into their lives through Eve and questioned her “Has God indeed said, “You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (Genesis 3:1)
…will be continued!
