The first man to whom God changed the name was Abraham. God changed Abram which means “exalted father” to Abraham which means “father of a multitude.” The same God changes our names from sinner to God’s child. Abraham who almost offered his son as a sacrifice to God is considered as a sign of God giving His only Son Jesus as a sacrifice.
Strengths:
Abraham loved God more than his people and place.
He believed more in God’s promises than what he saw.
He is the best example of obedience. Although he did not know where he was going, he started from his place just because God told him to do so. He was also ready to sacrifice his son whom he begot at the age of 100.
Although there seemed no possibility for him to give birth at that age, he believed completely on God’s promises.
He is the first example for a human to become righteous through faith.
He sought the heavenly house and eternal life than the worldly house and city.
He interceded to God for his nephew Lot and his family.
Weaknesses:
Since he had a fear, he hid the truth about his wife in a couple of places.
Other notes:
Places he lived: Ur, Haran, Canaan, Egypt.
Father: Terah.
Wife: Sarah.
Children: Isaac, Ismael, and some more.
